St Vincent's Private Hospital Werribee Development
St Vincent's Private Hospital Werribee (SVPHW) has been designed with the specific health care challenges of the community in mind. Construction of SVPHW commenced in November 2015.
St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) purchased the land in Werribee in 2012 and estimates the total investment in this new facility will be $95 million - $75 million for the establishment of the hospital and $20 million for the 80-bed aged care facility.
The two projects will create full-time employment for around 350 staff as well as additional contract staff involved in the design and development of the projects.
The East Werribee site
Our new facility is located at 240 Hoppers Lane within the East Werribee Employment Precinct – a 700-hectare site between Geelong and Melbourne. With residential, light industrial and commercial projects planned, this area will become a significant health, education and employment precinct.
The development has been built on a 4 hectare site next to the Wyndham Medical Centre and opposite Werribee Mercy Hospital. The colocation of public and private medical facilities brings a range of benefits to the community by working collaboratively to:
- Solve shortages of medical specialists (particularly anaesthetists, physicians and surgeons).
- Effectively plan to meet the future health needs of the community.
The facility incorporates 112 beds, 6 operating theatres, 4 delivery suites, a cardiac catheter laboratory, day procedure unit and a separate 80-bed aged care facility. The hospital will have the capacity to treat more than 16,000 patients a year.

Raising project funds
SVHA has raised a significant portion of the cost of building the new hospital. The Invest in the Health of the West Capital Appeal Campaign is aiming to raise approximately $10 million dollars from business, philanthropic and community support.
St Vincent’s Health Australia is Australia’s largest Catholic not-for-profit health and aged care provider. This new health care project represents a significant expansion over the coming years of our mission to serve those in need through the healing ministry of Jesus.
